Lipstick Feminism is a perspective that works to re-contextualise views on femininity. The notion highlights a sense of freedom for women to explore ‘traditional’ feminine archetypes and embrace associated symbols like makeup, wearing pink, and being ‘girlie’. Thus, challenging the impression that feminism requires one to reject femininity.
Glossed Over, works to reclaim the visual symbols of feminine aesthetics through a showcase of both conceptual and commercial designs, featuring traditional female archetypes. Taking the viewer back to a state of childhood innocence; lost in the highly judgemental, demanding, and critical world. Turning these women from passive stereotypes into active expressions of empowerment and authenticity to oneself and their desires.
