Dream State explores the space between our grounded reality and the disconnected mind. The lingering connection between the two is made up of the familiarity and nostalgia of our possessions and belongings with textiles at the heart of it all
The habits of collection and consumption in our lives offer a window into our identity not seen otherwise. The sense of safety and comfort of our home was the thing I wanted to capture most with this work and I’ve embraced it using found or reclaimed textiles that evoke a sense of softness and familiarity. I was inspired by the textiles in my home and how I carry them through my life and the memories I attach to them.
This collection explores the experience of being half awake and reflecting on yourself from a sort of faraway place. While often being a fragile state, this glimpse into your life through a fresh set of eyes allows us a refreshed perspective on yourself and the infinitely changing world around us.
Melody Lorimier is an aspiring fashion designer with an interest in reimagining the staples of fashion. Her approach to design is inspired by materials and how they communicate with the human form.
